Following a strong debut in 2025, AUTOMEX Penang returns to connect manufacturers with the automation, robotics and smart manufacturing technologies shaping the future of industry.

GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- AUTOMEX Penang will return for its second edition from 3–5 November 2026 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, building on the strong response to its inaugural edition and further strengthening its role as a platform for automation and advanced manufacturing technologies in Malaysia's northern region.

Organised by Informa Markets Malaysia, AUTOMEX Penang 2026 will bring together technology providers, manufacturers, engineers, industry professionals and decision-makers to discover solutions designed to improve productivity, efficiency and competitiveness.

The return of AUTOMEX Penang comes as the state continues to play a central role in Malaysia's advanced manufacturing ecosystem. Often referred to as the "Silicon Valley of the East", Penang is home to a highly developed industrial base spanning semiconductors, electrical and electronics (E&E), precision engineering, automation and supporting industries.

The inaugural AUTOMEX Penang in 2025 marked the expansion of AUTOMEX's established manufacturing technology platform from Kuala Lumpur into Malaysia's northern industrial corridor. The first edition welcomed 5,019 trade visitors from 24 countries and regions, alongside 177 participating brands and companies from eight countries and regions, demonstrating strong demand for automation and advanced manufacturing solutions in Penang and beyond.

Building on this momentum, AUTOMEX Penang 2026 will scale up significantly, with the exhibition expected to welcome more than 6,000 trade visitors, showcase 300+ brands and companies, and feature 1,000+ brands, products and innovations across 6,000 square metres of exhibition space.

The expansion comes as Penang continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for advanced manufacturing, semiconductors and electrical and electronics (E&E), while manufacturers across Malaysia increasingly turn to automation and digital technologies to improve productivity, optimise operations and remain competitive.

Malaysia's Industry4WRD: National Policy on Industry 4.0 was introduced to drive digital transformation across the manufacturing and manufacturing-related services sectors, while the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) continues to encourage the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. Malaysia has also set a target of establishing at least 3,000 smart factories by 2030, highlighting the growing role of automation, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics in the country's industrial development. This focus also aligns with the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), which aims to strengthen Malaysia's semiconductor value chain and advance the country into higher-value activities including integrated circuit (IC) design, advanced packaging and sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Against this backdrop, AUTOMEX Penang 2026 will showcase technologies supporting the shift towards smarter, more connected and data-driven manufacturing, including industrial automation, robotics and cobots, semiconductor technologies, machine vision, smart manufacturing, industrial software, AI and connected systems. Visitors can experience live technology demonstrations, connect with solution providers, gain insights from industry experts and explore potential business partnerships.

"Following the successful debut of AUTOMEX Penang, we are excited to return for our second edition and build on the momentum created in 2025. Penang is an important part of Malaysia's advanced manufacturing and semiconductor ecosystem, and AUTOMEX is committed to supporting this ecosystem by bringing together the technologies, businesses and people driving industrial transformation," said Geonice Chong, Deputy Event Director, Informa Markets Malaysia.

"Through AUTOMEX Penang 2026, we aim to create an environment where manufacturers can discover practical solutions, exchange knowledge and build partnerships that will strengthen their competitiveness as the industry moves towards increasingly intelligent and connected manufacturing."

AUTOMEX Penang 2026 will take place from 3 – 5 November 2026 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang.
